Tiffany Bradley Wins Cintas Contest to Shred Her Paid-Off Medical Bills on Good Riddance Day in New York City
Public selected Knoxville, Tenn., resident from 10 finalists to win a five-night trip to Good Riddance Day and New Year's Eve in Times Square
CINCINNATI — Cintas today announced that Tiffany Bradley, 31, from Knoxville, Tenn., is the official winner of its inaugural Good Riddance Day Contest. As the grand prize winner, she will receive a five-night trip to New York City for Good Riddance Day on Dec. 28, 2010 to securely shred the medical bills that she finally paid off from a life-threatening, emergency surgery. She and her mother, Dorothy Bradley, will stay to ring in the New Year in Times Square.
Tiffany entered the contest for a chance to say “good riddance” once and for all to thousands of dollars worth of medical bills. After experiencing excruciating pain in May of 2009, Tiffany found out that a perforated ulcer had grown to the size of a half dollar and severely damaged her stomach. All but one ounce of her stomach had to be removed. After being on life support and not expected to live, Tiffany has fully recovered. In addition, through successful treatments, she is back to a regular routine and healthy diet. Furthermore, on top of her ailments, Tiffany was also laid off from her job but still managed to pay off her debt.
“Shredding my medical bills on Good Riddance Day will be symbolic of finally being healthy and free from the burden of this debt,” said Tiffany Bradley. “I've decided to bring my mom as my guest since both of us have always wanted to visit New York City, especially around the New Year's Eve festivities. We're excited to say goodbye to our worries from 2010 and ring in the New Year with a fresh slate.”
Since September, hundreds of people across the nation entered the Cintas contest for the chance to win a trip to New York City to watch their funny, heartfelt or forgettable memories of 2010 get shredded into pieces on Good Riddance Day. After narrowing down the submissions to 10 finalists, Cintas opened up voting to the public to determine the winner. Tiffany's entry for a chance to shred her medicals bills received more than 1,230 votes.
