Forbes Magazine Lists Cintas Among "World's Most Attractive Big Public Companies For Investors"
Sixth Consecutive Year Company Makes Forbes' "A-List"
CINCINNATI, OH, October 11, 2004 – In its annual “A-List” of top performing companies, Forbes Magazine listed Cintas Corporation (Nasdaq: CTAS) among the world’s 400 “most attractive big public companies for investors.” The recognition marks the sixth consecutive year Cintas has made the list. The announcement follows the company’s 35 th consecutive year of growth in sales and earnings - an honor surpassed by only one other public company, Wal-Mart.
“Our performance is the direct result of our Cintas culture,” said Cintas CEO Scott Farmer. “This recognition demonstrates our steadfast commitment to our customers and shareholder value.”
To create the “A-List,” Forbes pooled together companies with either sales or market capitalization of $5 billion or more. Public companies that met at least one of the criteria were graded on: Five-year return on capital as a measure of managerial excellence, five-year growth in sales and profit, stock market performance over the past year and analysts' earnings expectations for the coming year. Each category carried the same weight, and companies with questionable accounting practices were excluded. The list represents fewer than 1% of the world’s public companies.
Now in its sixth year, the Forbes “A-List” has proven to be more competitive than ever before. Twenty-six of the 57 companies to make the list each year between 1998 and 2003 dropped off in 2004. Cintas was one of 31 companies to receive the recognition every year since Forbes began publishing the list in 1998.
In 2004, Forbes Magazine also named Cintas one of “ America ’s Best Managed Companies,” and Fortune Magazine called Cintas “ America ’s Most Admired Company” in the diversified outsourcing industry. The company was named the fourth best employer in Canada by Report on Business Magazine in 2004, and received the Matthew 25: Ministries Corporate Humanitarian Award in 2003 for helping more than 1.5 million people worldwide.
