HUMANITARIAN HALL OF FAME INAUGURAL HONOREES
CINCINNATI, OH, April 23,
2007 - On April 17th, Matthew 25: Ministries honored five individuals and organizations with their Humanitarian Hall of Fame Award. The award honors extraordinary humanitarian efforts by corporations, members of the media and volunteers toward helping the poor. The Award Presentation is part of a yearly event to celebrate the generosity and accomplishments of humanitarian citizens of all types.
The event was held at the Freedom Center in downtown Cincinnati. Dr. Spencer Crews, President and CEO of the Freedom Center welcomed the guests. Scott Farmer, President and CEO of Cintas Corporation accepted the award for large corporation; Chuck Stocking, President of Principle Business Enterprises accepted the award for medium corporation; Lisa Braun and Sherry Rowland of Clear Channel Communications were honored as the media awardees and June Keeling of Symmes Township was honored as the volunteer.
The State of Ohio and the City of Cincinnati declared April 17th “Matthew 25: Ministries Day”. The City of Blue Ash declared both April 17th and April 18th "Matthew 25: Ministries Days". Council Member Chris Bortz of Cincinnati and Mayor Jack Buckman of Blue Ash attended the event and read their cities’ proclamations.
Michael and Patricia Brandy of Brandicorp, David and Susan Knust and Alvaro Pereira of the American Nicaraguan Foundation were the presenting sponsors. Contributing Sponsors included Donald S. Founder and President Reverend Wendell Mettey surprised guests with the announcement that Matthew 25: Ministries has now exceeded 50,000,000 pounds (25,000 tons) of humanitarian aid distributed to the poor around the world. Reverend Mettey also announced that, thanks to a successful Capital Campaign, Matthew 25: Ministries' current facility, the 132,000 square foot Center for Humanitarian Relief, is completely paid off. This welcome news, which exceeds expectations by ten months, enables Matthew 25: Ministries to help an additional half million people each year.
