Can you start an arrested heart?
What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?
Sudden cardiac arrest, or SCA, is an immediate electrical malfunction in the heart when the heart is quivering and NOT beating in its normal rhythm.
When this happens, there is no oxygenated blood being carried to the brain or any other vital organs. This is known as ventricular fibrillation, and the only way to reverse it is with a defibrillator.
