Cintas Partners with the Council of Better Business Bureaus and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling to Combat Identity Theft and Break a World Record
Consumers across the nation are invited to learn about identity theft prevention and help break a world record during the third annual National Protect Your Identity Week
CINCINNATI, Sep 23, 2010 — Cintas Corporation (CTAS), the leader in secure document management services, today announced it is the national document management partner with the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB) and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) for the third annual National Protect Your Identity Week. Taking place October 17-23, 2010, the week will consist of more than 150 identity theft education and protection events across the nation, with many including free shredding services powered by Cintas. In addition, on Saturday, October 23, in select cities, community members are invited to help break the Guinness World Record™ for most paper shredded in 24 hours. Anyone can participate by bringing personal documents they wish to have securely destroyed by Cintas to their local event.
"Identity theft is continuously on the rise and we are honored to partner with such reputable non-profit organizations to educate consumers and provide them with a means to destroy their personal information securely," said Karen Carnahan, President and COO, Cintas Document Management. "We are also excited to unite with community members across the nation to fight identity theft and make history by attempting to break a Guinness World Record™."
During Protect Your Identity Week, events will be hosted nationwide by a local member of the NFCC, BBB or an affiliated Coalition Member. Consumers are invited to take advantage of free identity theft workshops and credit report reviews. In addition, anyone can bring their documents to have them shredded by an on-site, certified Cintas employee at participating locations. From drop-off to destruction, all documents will be constantly monitored and protected.
Additionally, all of the shredded documents will be recycled into secondary paper products to reduce waste and impact on the environment. In doing so, the community will save trees, energy and water while reducing green house gas emissions. For a list of all participating locations, please visit www.ProtectYourIDNow.org.
"Protect Your Identity Week offers both an opportunity to raise awareness of identity theft and arm consumers with the information needed to protect themselves from becoming a victim," said Bob Ensinger, COO, NFCC. "We are excited to partner with Cintas this year. Its shredding services are held to the highest standards of security and will help protect attendees' private information from falling into the wrong hands."
