Cintas Facility Services Launches Drain Line Maintainer Service
Foodservice solution reduces drain line build-up, eliminates odor and nuisance flies, and cuts plumbing expenses
CINCINNATI—July 20, 2011 – As peak fly season approaches, Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS), the leader in facility services, today launched its Drain Line Maintainer (DLM) service. Designed for the foodservice industry, it removes fats, oils, grease and other kitchen food waste that accumulates in drain lines. Using a patented formula of live, environmentally-friendly bacterium, Cintas’ service disintegrates food waste, turning it into carbon dioxide and water to eliminate foul odor and flies and keep water flowing freely.
“Clogged and backed-up drains are expensive to repair and cause unnecessary business disruptions,” said Brian Garry, Senior Director, Cintas Foodservice. “Our DLM service places healthy bacteria into drain lines to eliminate organics, odor, and the food source for drain flies to keep restaurant drains working at optimal performance around the clock.”
Cintas’ automatic DLM system consists of a 3.5–gallon pail placed under a three–compartment sink or next to a dishwasher. Installed in a matter of minutes, the system dispenses four doses of product into the main floor drain every 24 hours, seven days a week. As part of the service, a trained Cintas representative sprays side drains with the formulation on a weekly basis and checks for missing drain covers to prevent solids from entering the drain line. The result is a significant reduction in the number of emergency and routine grease related pump-outs.
During August and September, fruit flies and fungal gnats are common sightings in restaurants and QSR facilities, hovering over drains and creating a nuisance for employees. In addition, the flies can lay up to 200 eggs in the organic matter (food, grease, hair, etc.) that clogs drain pipes, making the pests difficult to control and prevent without effective drain line cleaning and maintenance.
An eco-friendly solution, DLM meets the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) program by providing a preferable human health and environmental formula profile. It also helps eliminate standing water backups to help keep employees safe and prevent health code violations.
“Unprofessionally treated drains can result in costly problems such as employee slips and falls, health–code violations and municipal surcharge fines,” said David Collette, Director of Global Marketing and Strategy, Cintas Foodservice. “Our program provides carefree drain line maintenance to help restaurants keep their operations running smoothly and eliminate unnecessary plumbing expenses.”
