Cintas Document Management Facility First of Its Kind to Receive VPP “Star” Certification
Location awarded for exceptional dedication to health and safety of its employees and operations
SAN JOSE, CA., November 11, 2011 — Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS), a leader in secure document management services, today announced its San Jose, Calif. facility has been named an OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) “Star” site, the agency’s highest recognition for the practice of, and commitment to, world class occupational safety and health. With this award, Cintas Corporation becomes the first document management services provider to receive VPP “Star” certification.
“Today is an achievement because this location has accomplished the toughest VPP certification in the country,” said Hal Stansbury, GM of Cintas Document Management in Fremont. “Achieving this is a journey to ensure the most important thing - that each of us return home safely to our families every day.”
The California Occupational Safety & Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) recognizes facilities with exceptional safety and health programs by honoring employees and employers with California Voluntary Protection Program Star (Cal/VPP Star) certification. Achieving VPP Star requires the successful completion of a strict and rigorous Cal/OSHA audit designed to assess the dedication management and employees have for maintaining a safe and healthful workplace.
As a facility with leading safety and health practices, the San Jose facility is constantly integrating improvements to its safety and health programs. To ensure employees and management are aware of each change, the location established a “management of change process.” This program keeps every member of the facility informed of changes to safety and health procedures at their location, and promotes full employee engagement in the change management process.
“Cal OSHA is happy to partner with Cintas on its journey to world class safety,” added Iraj Pourmehraban, VPP Area Manager, Cal/OSHA. “We are going to support you on this journey and you can count on us to help you out with future improvement.”
Cintas Corporation currently has 132 facilities nationwide actively seeking either VPP certification or recognition under other OSHA-administered safety excellence programs.
