New Scrub Rental Dispensing System from Cintas Eliminates Scrub Shortage Woes

System ensures laundered scrubs are always available – in the right sizes – every single time

TORONTO — [Nov. 5, 2012] — To assist healthcare facilities plagued by scrub shortages, Cintas Canada, Ltd., today announced the availability of its new scrub rental dispensing system. The system takes all of the responsibility out of scrub apparel management, ensuring that healthcare professionals always have access to freshly laundered, poly-wrapped scrubs in the appropriate size. It will be on display, along with the rest of Cintas’ new essential healthcare solutions, at Cintas booth #2014 during the HealthAchieve tradeshow held Nov. 5-6 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Unlike traditional scrub programs with limited tracking capabilities, poor apparel quality or improper washing protocols, the Cintas scrub rental dispensing system is a turnkey system that requires users to simply swipe an identification card to retrieve or return scrubs. This allows users to mix and match tops and bottoms for the best sizing while enabling healthcare administrators to easily track the number of scrub sets withdrawn by each user for improved inventory and infection control practices.

“The Cintas scrub rental dispensing system takes all the work and headache out of managing a scrub rental program,” said Leslie Molin, Senior Marketing Manager, Cintas Canada. “Many scrub wearers are often concerned about shortages, so they stockpile scrubs for later use. Our system ensures that users always have the scrubs they need, when they need them.”

One of the largest apparel launderers in North America, Cintas removes dirty scrubs from the machine and launders them according to stringent healthcare guidelines. This eliminates issues associated with healthcare workers wearing scrubs home and washing them with other garments or not laundering them according to standards. To ensure high quality, clean scrubs are always available, Cintas professionals restock the machine on a pre-determined schedule. Placing poly-wrapped scrub sets in a machine prevents clean, unprotected scrubs from sitting on a shelf and collecting bacteria, further increasing the risk of infection.

“This is a first-of-its-kind machine that not only reduces cost associated with garment loss and attrition, it helps guarantee that healthcare workers always have access to clean, professional-looking scrub apparel,” added Molin. “It provides peace of mind for healthcare administrators, infection control professionals and environmental service directors.”

In addition to its scrub rental dispensing system, Cintas provides a variety of other solutions that improve the cleanliness, image and security of healthcare facilities. Cintas’ secure document shredding services ensure that documents containing sensitive patient or personnel information are securely destroyed. This helps healthcare facilities stay compliant with provincial regulations.

Cintas’ microfiber cleaning system helps improve productivity and cleanliness levels. The custom rental program can be built to meet the specific needs of the healthcare facility with no upfront inventory investment. Microfiber mops are delivered at a pre-determined frequency so clean microfiber products are always available for environmental service workers, thereby improving cleanliness and reducing opportunities for cross-contamination.
