Cintas Employee-Partners Donate More Than $62,000 To Support Company’s Tsunami Relief Program, “Operation Cintas Cares”

Program Generates More Than $2.3 Million In Combined Clothing and Financial Aid

CINCINNATI, OH, April 20, 2005 – Cintas employee-partners across North America donated more than $62,000 to help bring relief to victims ravaged by the tsunami disaster in South Asia. The company’s employee donations will benefit the American Red Cross International Response Fund for tsunami relief. The donations were part of the company’s comprehensive aid program entitled, “Operation: Cintas Cares.” The recently completed program generated more than $2.3 million in combined clothing and financial aid.

Through “Operation: Cintas Cares,” the company donated more than $2 million in clothing to support Cincinnati-based Matthew: 25 Ministries’ tsunami relief initiatives. Cintas also raised $112,000 in employee-matched donations. In addition, the Farmer Family Foundation – established by Cintas Founder and Chairman, Richard T. Farmer and his family – contributed $250,000 to the Red Cross in the name of Cintas.

“Our employee-partners’ extraordinary response to this emergency reflects our personal and corporate commitment to making a difference,” said Scott Farmer, Cintas President and CEO. “Our thoughts are with the victims and families affected by this disaster.”

Cintas’ garment donations are being coordinated through an existing partnership with Matthew: 25 Ministries’ Center for Humanitarian Relief. The company has shipped 150,000 articles of new clothing (valued at over $2 million ) to the ministry to help support their tsunami relief efforts. In addition, pallets of children’s clothes have been shipped to South Asia as part of Cintas’ “Clothe the Kids” program.

The company’s $112,000 contribution includes $62,000 in voluntary donations from Cintas’ employee-partners and a $50,000 corporate match to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. Cintas’ employee donations will benefit the American Red Cross International Response Fund for tsunami relief. A percentage of the corporate match will benefit Matthew 25: Ministries’ tsunami relief efforts.
