Cintas Raises Over $28,000 for Canadian Charity
Funds to be dedicated to Free The Children’s Adopt a Village program
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 17, 2012 — Cintas Canada, Ltd. (NASDAQ: CTAS), the nation’s leading business to business services provider and the largest uniform supplier in North America, announced today that it has raised $28,083 for Free The Children, an international charity and educational partner focused on empowering youth to fulfill their potential and be agents of change. The funds will support Free The Children’s Adopt a Village program, in support of a community in Mwangaza, Kenya.
“Cintas employee-partners throughout Canada have shown tremendous dedication in their mission to adopt a village and support our holistic development model,” said Marc Kielburger, founder of Free The Children. “In a little over a year, they have exceeded their goals and we couldn’t be more grateful to Cintas for making such a huge contribution to our international development projects.”
Cintas Canada first introduced its initiative in support of Free The Children in January of 2011. In less than 18 months, it had achieved its initial goal of $25,000, even exceeding it by more than $3,000. Cintas and representatives from each of its 21 operations located across Canada celebrated the achievement with a luncheon attended by Kielburger himself on November 16th at Cintas’ Toronto Distribution Center.
Cintas Canada will next be dedicating their philanthropic endeavors to Free The Children’s various domestic programs, including participation in We Create Change, Canada’s largest penny drive. In 2013, they will kick-off a year of fundraising that will help provide scholarships to send youth throughout Canada on life-changing Me to We trips to developing countries in which with Free The Children works, to build leadership skills, volunteer in local communities and build lifelong friendships.
“What we found is that when young people can get outside of their comfort zone and travel overseas, they come back and they become ambassadors for life,” said Kielburger during his November 16th visit to Cintas in Mississauga. “They get their friends, parents, schools and communities involved and collectively make a lasting, positive impact.”
