Fashion Forward Programs Honored at Image of the Year Awards Ceremony
Cintas Recognized for Outstanding Design by NAUMD
CINCINNATI, OH, May 14, 2007 Cintas made its presence known on April 14th during the National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors' (NAUMD) Image of the Year Awards. This year's competition drew an unprecedented number of entries from all over North America, and facing tough competition, Cintas was honored with awards for its partnerships and programs with W Hotels/Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Table Mountain Casino located in Central California.
This year's awards ceremony, held on April 14th at the Atlanta Hilton Hotel, had 120 submissions in industry categories such as hotel, gaming, cruise, healthcare, restaurant and transportation. The event was attended by some of the most influential names in the apparel industry including those from the media and fashion world.
"We are honored to accept these Image of the Year Awards on behalf of our customers," says Brian Garry, Director of Marketing for Cintas who attended the event. "Our design team has consistently been recognized for their talent in bringing innovative apparel programs into the workplace and this years awards are further proof of that talent. We are especially proud of our winners given the extraordinary competition; there is a renaissance occurring in the marketplace and many companies have come to realize the value of their brand and how that brand message is conveyed everyday with their employee's attire."
The NAUMD assembled a fashion-focused panel of judges for this year's Image of the Year Awards, including magazine editors, fashion designers and experts from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and Parsons School of Design. The panel, whose members reflect the industry's growing interest in fashion inspired uniforms, was brought together to recognize outstanding design in the field of corporate uniforms and image apparel within the United States.
The winning program for W Hotels/Starwood Hotels & Resorts is a perfect example of innovation and fashion awareness.
"The W Hotel program stood out with me, because of the simplicity of
it," said NAUMD judge and Director of Marketing for the Robb Report, Edward
Cortese. "The program allowed the individual and the services being
provided to stand out, instead of distracting guests with flashy outfits
with unnecessary details. The pieces were mix-and-matchable as well,
providing additional flexibility. I also think that this collection would
add to the pride that a staff member would feel about the company they work
for and about the uniform they have to wear. Overall, it is a powerful
branding statement of style and design excellence that effectively supports
the overall W theme."
The wardrobe was designed by Michael Kors, powered by Cintas. This
unique partnership achieved W Hotels goal of providing a hip, trendy style
aligned with the brand's image.
"We love how Michael has captured the spirit of the new jet-set," said
Ross Klein, President of Starwood's Luxury Brands Group. "Like W Hotels,
his clothes and designs for us are the essence of the new casual luxury."
Cintas will be presenting the awards to their winning clients later
