CINCINNATI , OH - While fans gears up for another college basketball season, Cintas Corporation is preparing to bring the lessons of sport and a positive experience to local area youth groups. As part of the company's Team Spirit Program, Cintas will host 25 children from greater Cincinnati youth organizations at each Xavier University home game during the 2003-2004 regular season. Now in its fourth year, the program gives kids a chance to experience the excitement of A-10 basketball at the Cintas Center on Xavier University 's campus.

According to Cintas Public Relations Manager, Mike Wallner, "From confidence and commitment to teamwork and sportsmanship, the program reflects the commonality between the Cintas culture and the lessons of sports. We want kids to believe they can reach their dreams." Several Girl Scouts from Troop 834 said it best, "That could be one of us down there on the court one day!"

As part of the program, center court seats, snacks, and commemorative T-shirts will be provided. In addition, all of the kids will be able to step onto the Cintas Center court while being recognized during the first timeout of the second half at each game.

A scholarship opportunity will also be part of the program this year. The "Shoot for the Spirit" scholarship will take place at five games this season, giving one lucky youngster the chance to win a $1,000 savings bond at each game. Rachel LeMaster hit her shot last year. "I want to go to college and get a good education. I want to be a doctor of some kind," she said. The 12-year-old doesn't know where she wants to attend college, but she knows she wants to be a student athlete.

Participants in this year's Cintas Team Spirit program include: St. Francis DeSales, Friends of the Children, Evanston Recreational Center, Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, Parham Elementary, Peaslee Neighborhood Center, Covington Community Center, Project Connect, Children's home of Cincinnati, YWCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girl Scouts of Greater Cincinnati, Friar's Club of Clifton, Bond Hill Academy, Inner City Youth Opportunities, Norwood Middle School, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, and A Step Ahead Learning Center.
