Good Riddance Day 2013
This past December, we hosted another successful Good Riddance Day. Partnering with the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment for the fourth year in a row, we selected Amy Johnson and her three-year-old son, Bodey, as the winners of the 2013 Good Riddance Day Contest. As the grand prize winner, Johnson and her son received a five-night trip to New York City for Good Riddance Day on Dec. 28, and were the first to say “good riddance” to cancer during the Good Riddance Day event in Times Square.
This year, more than 1,500 people across the nation submitted brief descriptions of a 2013 memory or experience they would like to say “good riddance” to heading into the New Year. In addition, hundreds of New Yorkers and visitors, passed through Times Square on Dec. 28 to securely bid farewell to bad memories of 2013 with an on-site Cintas truck. Meanwhile, people around the country took to Facebook and Twitter to discuss Good Riddance Day.
