Joseph M. Scaminace is Chairman, President and CEO of the OM Group, Inc (OMG). OMG is based in Cleveland, Ohio and is a leading producer of specialty materials used in many end-use products, such as rechargeable batteries, memory discs, oil refining, and other environmentally sensitive applications. The company is also a leading producer of electronic chemicals used in the production electronic components such as semi- conductors
Prior to joining OMG, Joe was the President and Chief Operating Officer of The Sherwin-Williams Company, a $9 billion global leader in the paint and coatings industry, where he had worked in various capacities since April of 1983. Prior to assuming the top job, Joe had served in three separate divisions in Ohio and Georgia. He was President of the company’s Automotive Division from April 1994 through June 1997 and President of Diversified Brands Division from 1985 through April 1994. He also served as President of the Consumer Group.
Joe has always been a very active participant in his community. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Cleveland Clinic and serves on the Executive and Audit Committees. Joe is also a Trustee of the Great Lakes Science Center and recently became a member of the Finance Council of the Diocese of Cleveland. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Marymount Hospital Health Care Systems, a position he has held since 1986.
Joe is also on the Board of Directors of The Parker Hannifin Corporation and The Boler Company of Chicago, Illinois.
Joe taught in the MBA program at Wheeling College in West Virginia and received his own MBA from Case Western Reserve in 1980. He received his BS degree in Business Economics, Summa Cum Laude, from The University of Dayton in 1975.
Joe and his wife JoAnne reside in Solon, Ohio where they have lived since 1985.
