First aid beyond the workplace

No matter where we may be when the unexpected happens, high-quality CPR training can save lives.

Cody Lakin, a Cintas Training & Compliance instructor, has taught First Aid, CPR and AED courses at Cemex for several years. Moises, a Cemex employee, was one of Cody’s students when he was suddenly called upon to put his recent training to use.

This past summer, Moises was spending his day off doing yardwork with his father when his father told him that he wasn’t feeling well and was experiencing some chest pain. Without hesitation, Moises gave him aspirin and began driving to the hospital, which was about a half hour away.

During the drive, his father became unconscious. Moises acted quickly and pulled into a gas station to ask for help — where he and two good Samaritans took turns performing CPR for 17 minutes until Emergency Services arrived.

It was later discovered that his father had suffered from a heart attack, which likely led to sudden cardiac arrest. But thanks to the professional CPR training from Cody and Cintas, Moises was able to successfully assist in saving his own father’s life.

It’s a fact: classes taught by Cintas Training & Compliance instructors save lives … inside AND outside of the workplace.
