An “Angel” on Site: Cintas Employee-Partner Goes Above and Beyond

Cintas technician Oslen “Ozzie” Garcia helped an elderly woman after a fall in a Florida high‑rise, calmly carrying her to safety and showing how fire protection work helps save lives.

Cintas Fire Alarm Repair Technician Oslen “Ozzie” Garcia doesn’t consider himself a hero, but there is an elderly woman in Marco Island, Florida, who considers him an angel.

A few months ago, Ozzie was working on replacing the alarm system on a high-rise building when he heard a scream from the stairwell he had just entered. The source of the scream was a woman who had fallen 30 minutes ago and could not move.

Ozzie noticed her knee was bruised and bleeding. He quickly scooped her up, carried her to her apartment and then waited with the woman and her husband until he knew she was OK.

“I feel a lot of pride that I was able to help her,” said Ozzie.

Ozzie’s General Manager, Jeff Playter, said Ozzie is helpful and a go-getter, but he’s also modest. Ozzie didn’t brag about his heroics to his fellow employee-partners. Instead, Jeff found out through the building’s management.

“Hearing that Ozzie jumped in to help out this lady wasn't a surprise to me at all,” Jeff said.

Despite Ozzie’s reluctance to claim credit, the building’s residents made sure Ozzie knew he was appreciated, thanking him whenever he was on site. The woman he helped called Ozzie her “little angel.”

While Cintas training is more technical than angelic, Ozzie said it helped prepare him for this moment.

“We're trained to stay calm in the middle of any situation that we go through,” said Ozzie. “You’ve always got to be paying attention to all your surroundings.”

Ozzie also said the event gave him a new perspective on the work he does in the Fire Division.

“What I do saves lives,” said Ozzie.

In a moment when it mattered most, Ozzie’s quick thinking and calm presence reflected both the life-saving impact of his work and the values that define Cintas employee-partners every day.
