Electric Arc Flash

Alarming Arc Flash Facts

An arc flash occurs when powerful, high-amperage currents travel, or arc, through the air causing a dangerous release of energy that can reach up to 35,000°F. When it comes to electrical accidents, the numbers speak for themselves:

  • Over 30,000 arc flash incidents occur every year
  • Up to 80% of all electrical injuries are burns resulting from an arc flash
  • More than 7,000 burn injuries result from arc flash explosions annually. Some are severe and life-threatening, requiring skin grafts or amputations.

The human impact is staggering. Beyond the physical harm, the trauma of these incidents can haunt workers for years.

The good news? Most of these accidents are preventable with the right precautions in place.
