Community Impact

We start every day with an understanding that we can make an impact for good. It drives our decisions. It fuels our actions. And it influences our future planning. It is both our privilege and our pledge to act: locally, nationally, globally. Our communities are an integral part of our success. When they thrive, all of us are better for it.

We channel servant-led passion and use it for boots-on-the-ground community service, financial support of numerous not-for-profits, and nurturing a mindset among all our employee-partners that we are here to build something greater than all of us. We’re constantly looking for ways to do more. We understand the obligation we have as a corporation to do the right thing, and we work towards that, every day. From helping schools get the supplies they need, to helping to fund research and prevention of heart disease and cancer, Cintas defines success by looking at what we’re doing to improve our communities.

We’re with our customers for a better workday, and we’re with our communities for a better world.

About Cintas Cares

Cintas Cares is the umbrella under which Cintas engages with our local communities and charitable and philanthropic organizations.

We’re immensely proud of the impact our employee-partners have made in our broader community. Established on the belief that everyone can make a difference, no matter how big or small the effort, Cintas Cares is dedicated to supporting causes and organizations in our local communities in addition to internationally recognized charitable organizations with whom the company has formalized relationships.

With both national platform and hometown opportunities, Cintas Cares provides a framework in which Cintas employee-partners can be active in the community, support the common good and raise funds and awareness for important causes. Each year, Cintas employee-partners throughout North America participate in enterprise-wide programs and fundraisers and offer additional to support local organizations doing good in their local communities. This includes monetary donations, in-kind donations, and active fundraising on behalf of key charitable and not-for-profit organizations.

History

The concept of Cintas Cares originated in 2010 when Cintas published its first Corporate Social Responsibility report, discussing its philanthropic community activities, safety and health vision, environmental sustainability initiatives and its diversity and inclusion programs.

Together, these activities helped Cintas make a bigger impact in its broader community and extending its influence and reach past our employee-partners, customers and shareholders.

In 2014, the annual CSR report was turned digital and CintasCares.com was launched. The website provided greater information and context about Cintas’ key programs.

The name had staying power, and in the late 2019s, Cintas Cares was formalized as the company’s corporate philanthropy and community engagement platform.

Cintas Cares Mission

To proactively enhance Cintas’ involvement in the community while supporting the goals of the business by creating a positive public image, fostering an engaging work environment, and supporting organizations which directly impact the personal and professional lives of our partners, customers, and Stakeholders.

Cintas Cares Vision

Cintas Cares will be recognized internationally as a dedicated partner with a deep-rooted spirit of giving, establishing the belief in our internal and external partners that we can all make a positive impact on the lives of others.

CORPORATE RELATIONSHIPS

Cintas has five primary philanthropic partnerships and initiatives.

Managed at the corporate level through Cintas’ Corporate Affairs Department, these five initiatives allow involvement from all of our U.S. locations and employee-partners. Each partnership is different, but each includes the opportunity for employee-partners and locations across the company to participate in fundraising and awareness activities to directly support these organizations. Our history and involvement with these organizations is detailed throughout this report.

Our Canadian employee-partners partner with similar organizations on a national level, including the equivalent Canadian charities that advance cancer and heart health awareness.

LOCAL INVOLVEMENT

We strive to be good community stewards in every city we operate and serve. One key element of that is our field location’s involvement in their local communities.

We encourage our more than 450 locations across the United States and Canada to get involved and form relationships with local charitable organizations and causes that are meaningful to their business and directly support their communities and neighbors. The Cintas Cares team provides toolkits and support to locations interested in initiating civic and community relationships in their cities and towns.

In addition to our main corporate partnerships, our local engagement also helps broaden Cintas’ impact across North America and provide direct support to organizations helping address the area’s most pressing needs.

These relationships take on many forms, and our locations support a wide variety of causes and organizations, including food banks, donation centers, in-school and after-school programs, neighborhood clean-ups, holiday adoptions, meal service and shelters.

These efforts are regularly documented and shared across the company in regular internal updates called “On the Road” to help share the success of our locations’ local charitable efforts, and also encourage and inspire other locations to get involved.

Cincinnati-area Relationships

In addition to Cintas’ six corporate-level philanthropic relations, we also support other local charitable programs out of our corporate headquarters in Cincinnati. These include relationships with Adopt A Class, where teams of volunteer employee-partners present weekly lessons in local classrooms; the United Way of Greater Cincinnati; and Dress for Success in Cincinnati.

Other corporate headquarter relationships, through sponsorship, donations (monetary or in-kind) or participation, include Boys Hope Girls Hope, Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Disabled American Veterans 5K, Easterseals, All About Women, Toys for Tots, Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA, Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council, Paloozanoire, the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio, and the YWCA Greater Cincinnati.

Cintas and Matthew 25: Ministries – rooted in sustainability, connected in purpose

Cintas and M25M partner to repurpose supplies and support communities worldwide.

On the surface, it seems a Fortune 500 company and a nonprofit wouldn’t have much in common. One focuses on servicing customers, the other, communities. However, a deeper inspection reveals quite a few similarities between Cintas and Matthew 25: Ministries (M25M), two organizations, partnered in purpose.

When M25M, a humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization, sent its first ton of supplies to Nicaragua in 1991, the Farmer family already had about 60 years of business on the books. Cintas got its start in the early 1930s, when Doc and Amelia Farmer began laundering rags destined for disposal and selling them back to factories. From the beginning, Cintas has been centered on sustainability.

In the near century since Cintas’ inception, the company has grown to nearly 50,000 employee-partners. It supports more than one million businesses by providing uniforms, mats, mops, towels, restroom supplies, workplace water services, first aid and safety products, eye-wash stations, safety training, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems and alarm services. Cintas’ expansive portfolio of offerings provides materials for recycling, which M25M is fully equipped to repurpose.

“They have just made it so easy to help others,” said Tim Mettey, M25M’s CEO.

Shortly after Mettey’s father, Rev. Wendell Mettey, established M25M, he called Cintas to see if the company had any excess supplies the nonprofit could use. Doc and Amelia Farmer’s grandson, Scott, who would later become Cintas’ CEO, answered the call.

“From that time on, Cintas has been one of our most cherished partners,” said Mettey.

Cintas began donating gently used uniforms that M25M could distribute to people in need. From there, the partnership has only grown, with Cintas contributing excess supplies and M25M giving them a second life with people who need assistance.

“From a sustainability standpoint, the fact that we can take things that have no useful life for Cintas, but still have a useful life for others, and Matthew 25 figures out how to get those in people's hands, I think that is a win-win for both of our organizations,” said Michelle Goret, Cintas Vice President of Corporate Affairs and long-time M25M board member.

As a company built on delivery services, Cintas understands the critical role mobility plays in reaching people when it matters most. That mission aligns closely with M25M, which deploys into disaster zones to help communities recover. Since 2013, Cintas has sponsored a disaster response vehicle M25M uses to deliver first aid and safety kits.

Commitment to community extends beyond corporate generosity. For more than 20 years, employee-partners have been involved in a company-wide charitable campaign, Clothe the Kids, in which people collect new and gently used children’s clothing and new school supplies to help M25M in its efforts in aiding children all over the world. In Cintas’ 2025 fiscal year, employee-partners gathered nearly $1 million worth of items.

“It's one of the most amazing programs because all of the employee-partners of Cintas,” said Mettey.

Employee-partners also donate their time, volunteering regularly at M25M. They assist in sorting, processing and packing donated items, which are then shipped globally.

“This partnership gives our partners an opportunity to personally and directly contribute, Goret said. “It's a tremendous relationship and opportunity.”

What began as a donation of surplus supplies has become a strategic partnership rooted in shared values and meaningful impact. By aligning Cintas’ scale, sustainability focus and engaged workforce with M25M’s humanitarian expertise, the partnership extends resources to communities worldwide.

“Cintas and Cintas employee-partners are the reason why Matthew 25 is so successful,” said Mettey.
